I’m getting so bored of the media narrative of angry Leave voters saying how betrayed they feel: “the British people have spoken, why don’t the politicians just get on with it” and so on. Apart from anything it demonstrates a shocking ignorance of the complexities of international relationships.
Why don’t we ever hear from the millions of Remain voters who feel utterly betrayed by this deeply misguided, ignorant and, it’s increasingly clear, fraudulent Brexit process? There’s hardly an MP - apart from the usual gang - who believes in Brexit. And an even smaller percentage in business, the universities, the civil service, the arts, the City, legal services, leisure, local authorities, social services, the charity sector, the NHS etc etc etc who think it’s a good idea.
Isn’t it time that the BBC - especially - heard the voices of the millions who are absolutely convinced that Brexit is a very bad idea and are utterly bewildered as to why we’re still pressing ahead with it?
Monday, April 1, 2019 will be our first working day out of the biggest trading bloc in the world.
April Fool indeed.
